Jessica Stam’s Hair Change

Hi y’all! Sorry I’ve been away for so long! I made a pretty big move after I got a new internship (yay!), and with that and various life events, this blog has suffered. For that, I’m sorry! But I’m back with a new post that I’m very passionate about- i.e. Jessica Stam’s new choice of hair color. I’ve always been a big Jessica fan, and like most models, she looks really good blonde. I’m not opposed to any hair color change. I like when people are adventurous with their hair. Just because I can’t dramatically dye my hair blonde or red doesn’t mean that no one else can…but Jessica has made a mistake, me thinks. I miss the blonde! Bring it back please, Jess! PS- love you!

What do y’all think? Good change? Bad change? Discuss.

Model Obsession

I might be a little late on the band wagon, but I’ve found my new model crush: Barbara Palvin. I’ve literally seen her all over Pinterest, Tumblr, and other fashion sites, but had no idea who she was until I came across her name a couple of days ago! I can’t get over her eyes and her eyebrows- I’m so insanely jealous. I have blue eyes and very thin eyebrows, so of course I want what I can’t have. And that porcelain skin. is. flawless. Considering she’s younger than me…and an international model…if given the chance i would totally take a couple of days in her shoes. Totally.

Tumblr might just be…

…my new Pinterest. I know, I know, it’s blasphemy. But for real, I’m lovin me some Tumblr. All the blogs I follow just post pictures that make me feel good inside, like I’m on the beach, with a puppy, sipping on some Chick-fil-a lemonade…ahhh. Check out mine here!

The Never Ending Search…

Since the summer is officially here in South Carolina I’ve been updating my wardrobe for the warmer weather. Jeans technically aren’t “summer-y,” but dammit, I want a pair of white jeans! They’re just adorable. But here are some problems I’ve run into:

  1. They’re too see through. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gone into the dressing room so hopeful because I’ve found a pair that were the right length and cut, only to be let down because I could see my underwear in the mirror. Through the jeans. It’s ridiculous.
  2. They were too tight. I’m definitely not into loose jeans, but I’m not liking these white jeggings that are in stores. At least with jeans, even if they’re a little tight, you don’t see every single detail in your legs (at least if they’re a dark wash). White jeggings leave no secrets.
  3. I don’t look like Gwyneth Paltrow. And it’s really, really upsetting.

New England Style

Most of the time, I thank God that I was born and raised in the South. There’s really nothing like it in the whole world. But if I hadn’t grown up here, I wish I could have grown up in the Northeast. You know, New England. Full of sailing on sailboats a la the Kennedy’s, wearing nautical stripes, hanging out at light houses (you know, the only things that New Englanders do). Oh yeah, and look ADORABLE all the time. Like these people. Oh my God I love them.

By the way, the girl who is in all the photos is named Sarah Vickers and her boyfriend is the one in the green shorts, Kiel James Patrick. They both work for his New England style company. Check it out here. Everything is legit beautiful in every single way. Also visit her personal style blog here!

Currently lovin on Michael Kors

I usually really hate stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx with a passion. I’ve heard a million times that if you’re willing to search through their racks, usually you can get some pretty good finds for relatively cheap. But I literally have no patience. Why would a store not organize the same shirts in the same location? I just can’t stand it. I don’t want to have to search for cute things, I simply want them to be presented to me. Obviously, I’m a very visual shopper, so you can see why discount stores like these would be a problem.

But I’ve seriously changed my ways today. And one dress did it.

I’ve been looking for new professional and nice looking clothes for a job, considering I probably won’t be allowed to wear cut-offs and flip flops, and I’m currently on a budget (ahem, thanks Paris). So, following my mom’s suggestions, I went to Marshall’s. And holy mother of God I think I found my favorite dress ever. Really, I probably shouldn’t say that, it’s actually a pretty simple, nice white floral lace dress. But I got it for $50, and it was originally $150. Please don’t applause, it was all Marshall’s.

Please give a warm welcome to my new favorite: Michael Kors floral lace dress.

I don’t like short shorts, y’all

Here’s my problem: I’m a little picky when it comes to shorts. And when I say a little picky, I mean I literally have two pairs I’m willing to wear. When I was younger I used to just wear jeans in the summer because I hated how shorts looked on me. And that’s because I was shopping at American Eagle and their shorts are literally like two inches long and your butt hangs out more with every step you take. I just couldn’t do it.

So now that I’ve expanded my shopping horizons I’ve gotten some more options. Obviously Target is a favorite, but even theirs can be super short. I usually like my shorts (and when I’m talking about shorts here, I’m talking about denim shorts, cutoffs and what have you) not so short with a cuff at the bottom. Therein lies my problem. I like my shorts to have just a little bit of wear or something, so they’ll look a little worn in and comfy.

I really really do not like these shorts:

They fit most of the criteria I’ve set: they’re not baby shorts, they’re a darkish/medium wash, they have a little wear, and they’re cut-offs. But they don’t have the cuff. And they fray too much at the ends, so it just looks like I bought them like that…which just kills me.

I also like my shorts to be super relaxed so that if I sit down or do any kind of activity they won’t cut into my legs, which seems to be a problem no one in the shorts designing community understands. For instance, these seem way too close to the leg for my taste.

Not that there is anything with liking these shorts. I’m just ridiculously picky when it comes to my own shorts. On other people, these shorts would probably be totally fine. And I might even like them on you. But not me.

Here’s my dilemma: I’ve found my dream shorts. I know where to get them. They’re in my size. They’re in stock…but they’re so out of my budget for a pair of worn-in looking, denim shorts it’s ridiculous. As in $80-$170. Someone help me out and say that J. Crew or Shopbop will have a 50% off sale because I need it now. Like right now.

I’m dying over the shorts in some of these pictures. So jealous.

Target, you’ve done it again

I can’t tell you how many items of clothing I’ve gotten from Target over the years. It’s a little bit ridiculous. But my most recent purchase might be one of my favorites. When it comes to cute sandals I can’t say no…especially when they’re at eye level and like $17. So needless to say I got these shoes while completely ignoring the list and budget I’d set for myself before going on my shopping excursion (I swear if I don’t I walk out with the whole freaking store).

What do y’all think? Any other place I can get cute and cheap shoes? These also come in an orange and pink combo, so I’m thinking of getting those too!
