Christmas music at its best

Despite my love for classic Christmas songs, this acoustic version has to be one of my favorites.

The perils of having a DSLR that doesn’t have a low enough aperture

Although I’m super thrilled I added three new members to my shoe family, my inability to take cool pictures of my Christmas tree brought me down a bit today. I’m obsessed with the Cupcakes and Cashmere blog and a few days ago the blogger, also an Emily (coincidence? I think not) posted this picture of her Christmas tree:

Since my Christmas tree has colored lights I thought it would make for some really pretty pictures, right? The answer is nope. Not with my camera. I’ve been taking pictures since high school with super nice cameras, but after I graduated I realized how flat my point and shoot camera fell. This summer I bought a Nikon D3100 camera and I’ve loved it! Until today. Emily S. posted this link to learn how to create the heart bokeh. Unfortunately, my camera doesn’t recognize the heart-shaped bokeh because the aperture can’t get low enough. So for now, I must accept these pictures of my tree:

Can you kind of see the sideways hearts?

I'm a little proud of this one...the hearts are upright!

New Shoes!

Literally my favorite thing in the world is new shoes. I know I’m in this boat with like 99.99% of the world’s population of women (excluding my mother), but I don’t care. I’m going to pretend like this excitement is unique to me and no one understands. And normally I get one pair of shoes at a time, mostly because I tend to spend too much money on them anyway. But yesterday as I was casually perusing Target for gifts for family (i.e. saying I’m going to Target for family and then going to look for cardigans and pretty things for me) I got not one…not two…but THREE pairs of beautiful shoes! Normally I’m pretty much stuck in my UGGS this time of year, but I’m definitely willing to deal with freezing feet for these ūüôā

Now introducing…

Please excuse the tag in the photo of the metallic flats…which by the way may be my favorites out of these shoes. I’ve been searching for the perfect metallic flats for forever, meaning that they can’t be too silver or gaudy gold. I can wear these with gold or silver earrings/bags and they’re perfect for dressing up outfits just a tad.

But I’m also in love with these leopard flats. I’ve been craving this pair of Tory Burch leopard drivers, but especially around Christmas time I just can’t bring myself to pay that much. And these Charlotte Olympia shoes are way out of my price range, and I can’t find the pair of House of Harlow leopard booties in this picture either. I really love that all of these shoes (including my new flats) are hair calf. For some reason I can’t stand leopard shoes that are just print, so my dreams have finally come true, and I can call these puppies mine ūüôā

The red suede wedges are a new for me; I don’t have any heels that are lower than 3 inches high, so these are my first. They’re so comfortable and I know I’ll be able to wear them for a long time if I have to!

Also the fact that total they were like $90 doesn’t kill me either!

Pretty Nails

Since I’m currently in the middle of an at-home pedicure (sadly only pink, OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga, to be exact) here are some nail jobs I think are crazy good!
