My first cake! I’ve made plenty of cupcakes, cookies, and dinners before, but this was my first cake for my mama’s birthday. Are you proud?
A vase of flowers I arranged, also for my mama’s birthday. All the flowers from Publix, by the way.
A puppy my friend was this close to adopting. She’s only 6 weeks old, folks!
Two new bracelets I got from Handpicked. I told y’all I love that store. They were only $6 each!
My new Kate Spade investments: gold confetti mugs and plates!
Picking the strawberries for my strawberry ice cream!
A little frog that hops onto my kitchen window during the summer is finally here! Which means it’s officially spring/summer!
I’m feeling the pinks and purples of spring, clearly
I finally painted my nails (all of them! not just one hand!) yesterday. The color is Essie To Buy or Not To Buy. It’s super pale so it’s not super noticeable, but it’s one of my favorite purple colors.
I just got this hanging clutch makeup bag from Target to replace an old one and I’m so glad I did. It’s huge, meaning I don’t have to take three bags with me full of toiletries whenever I go out of town.
My sister just performed in her last high school play, so I picked out these beautiful flowers at Publix!
I got this ring at the Charleston market with my friend Savannah, who got a matching one. The picture doesn’t show it well, but it has a slight pink color to it.
A big thank you to Forever21 for helping me put some bright pink and orange into my wardrobe!
I got this jacket at Forever 21 when I was in Charleston and it’s finally nice enough weather that I can wear it with a tank top and shorts or jeans. The rose color is so pretty!
This post kind of reminds me of Daughters by John Mayer…”she puts the color inside of my world…”
Happy Friday, everybody! (thank God)
Like when I was little, I still love going to the zoo. Since it’s my Spring Break I made 100% sure that I would be able to go to the Riverbanks zoo at some point. And today was the magical day. It was so fun- I felt like a 5 year old again. Am I the only one who loves seeing these animals? Realistically I’ve seen the same ones tens of times, but I can’t help it! I pay the ridiculously expensive $11.75 gladly!
Steps by Frank O’Hara
How funny you are today New York
like Ginger Rogers in Swingtime
and St. Bridget’s steeple leaning a little to the left
here I have just jumped out of a bed full of V-days
(I got tired of D-days) and blue you there still
accepts me foolish and free
all I want is a room up there
and you in it
and even the traffic halt so thick is a way
for people to rub up against each other
and when their surgical appliances lock
they stay together
for the rest of the day (what a day)
I go by to check a slide and I say
that painting’s not so blue
where’s Lana Turner
she’s out eating
and Garbo’s backstage at the Met
everyone’s taking their coat off
so they can show a rib-cage to the rib-watchers
and the park’s full of dancers with their tights and shoes
in little bags
who are often mistaken for worker-outers at the West Side Y
the Pittsburgh Pirates shout because they won
and in a sense we’re all winning
the apartment was vacated by a gay couple
who moved to the country for fun
they moved a day too soon
even the stabbings are helping the population explosion
though in the wrong country
and all those liars have left the UN
the Seagram Building’s no longer rivalled in interest
not that we need liquor (we just like it)
and the little box is out on the sidewalk
next to the delicatessen
so the old man can sit on it and drink beer
and get knocked off it by his wife later in the day
while the sun is still shining
oh god it’s wonderful
to get out of bed
and drink too much coffee
and smoke too many cigarettes
and love you so much
