I’m feeling the pinks and purples of spring, clearly
I finally painted my nails (all of them! not just one hand!) yesterday. The color is Essie To Buy or Not To Buy. It’s super pale so it’s not super noticeable, but it’s one of my favorite purple colors.
I just got this hanging clutch makeup bag from Target to replace an old one and I’m so glad I did. It’s huge, meaning I don’t have to take three bags with me full of toiletries whenever I go out of town.
My sister just performed in her last high school play, so I picked out these beautiful flowers at Publix!
I got this ring at the Charleston market with my friend Savannah, who got a matching one. The picture doesn’t show it well, but it has a slight pink color to it.
A big thank you to Forever21 for helping me put some bright pink and orange into my wardrobe!
I got this jacket at Forever 21 when I was in Charleston and it’s finally nice enough weather that I can wear it with a tank top and shorts or jeans. The rose color is so pretty!
While I’m not exactly feeling the baby blues and super minty greens, these spring pastels are growing on me. Since it’s so hot down here pastels are a perfect alternative to white t-shirts and shorts. Are y’all liking these colors? I’m definitely ready for bright oranges and pinks in the summer, but I like them as a transition from the dark purples and blacks of winter.
Okay. Y’all. I’ve seriously found the best website ever if you’re obsessed with nail polish and designs. Whoever runs Pshiiit is a genious. Like hands down. She posts beautiful photos all the time of her crazy amazing designs! The website is in French, which makes it that much cooler…and harder to read so Google is great for helping with the translation 🙂
I have a giant blog crush now. *adding to bloglovin*
After finally getting around to watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes (which is really good, by the way), I got super interested in making sure that none of the products I use on a daily basis do animal testing. It just makes me so sad to think about all of those little mice caged and injected or coated with products that scientists and companies aren’t willing to test on people in the first place.
And ignorance really is bliss. I found so many of my favorite companies on Animal Testing lists. Tomorrow I’m going out to buy new soap, nail polish (I’m so sad I have to kiss all of my essie polishes goodbye), shampoo, and makeup. I’ve also contacted Essie and OPI about their animal testing (OPI says they don’t do animal testing, but the company that does own them, does). With y’all’s help we can stop animal testing from our beloved makeup lines! Even if you continue to use them, any added pressure helps!
Here are the links to contact the above companies:
L’Oreal Essie Pantene Suave Olay Dove Neutrogena Covergirl Crest

Here is a list I’ve compiled of companies and products that DO test on animals. Please tell me if you find one that is actually cruelty-free!
I’ve never been a fan of big gifts on Valentine’s Day- I guess it just seems unnecessary to me. Save the nice presents for Christmas or my birthday. A nice card, maybe a little gift, or flowers would be sweet enough gestures for me. So, if you’re wanting a little something for Valentine’s day that isn’t in the shape of an engagement ring box, I found some sweet gifts anyway.
If I had a beau for Valentine’s Day (commence crying) this is what I would ask for. Are there any little trinkets on your lists?

I’ve been dying to try the new “trend” in manicures: the little nail polish pens from Sally Hansen (any others?). That dream came to a screeching halt last night when procrastinating (per usual) on my accounting homework. I tried Essie Bobbing for Baubles as the base color, and Sally Hansen’s silver pens.
Patience is a virtue, friends. Something I do not have…which is why when I tried to draw on silver half-moons and polka dots, my blue polish gummed up and looked like I had been doing hard manual labor with semi-dry polish. It looked gross. So this is a project for when it’s not 12:30 am and I’m not knee deep in balance sheets and retained earnings statements.
Has anyone else had problems or success with the polish pens? Am I just dumb?

But really. This is the forecast for Columbia tonight:
Yes, I know it’s at night, but for someone who is used to highs of around 70 degrees in January, that is so cold! Which is why for the next few days until Sunday, when the high really is 70 degrees, I will be lovin on these:
How is the weather where y’all are? Do you have any go to coats or brands to keep warm? I feel like I can’t find any reliable brands except Patagonia, but those aren’t super stylish.
