The Never Ending Search…

Since the summer is officially here in South Carolina I’ve been updating my wardrobe for the warmer weather. Jeans technically aren’t “summer-y,” but dammit, I want a pair of white jeans! They’re just adorable. But here are some problems I’ve run into:

  1. They’re too see through. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gone into the dressing room so hopeful because I’ve found a pair that were the right length and cut, only to be let down because I could see my underwear in the mirror. Through the jeans. It’s ridiculous.
  2. They were too tight. I’m definitely not into loose jeans, but I’m not liking these white jeggings that are in stores. At least with jeans, even if they’re a little tight, you don’t see every single detail in your legs (at least if they’re a dark wash). White jeggings leave no secrets.
  3. I don’t look like Gwyneth Paltrow. And it’s really, really upsetting.

Currently lovin on Michael Kors

I usually really hate stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx with a passion. I’ve heard a million times that if you’re willing to search through their racks, usually you can get some pretty good finds for relatively cheap. But I literally have no patience. Why would a store not organize the same shirts in the same location? I just can’t stand it. I don’t want to have to search for cute things, I simply want them to be presented to me. Obviously, I’m a very visual shopper, so you can see why discount stores like these would be a problem.

But I’ve seriously changed my ways today. And one dress did it.

I’ve been looking for new professional and nice looking clothes for a job, considering I probably won’t be allowed to wear cut-offs and flip flops, and I’m currently on a budget (ahem, thanks Paris). So, following my mom’s suggestions, I went to Marshall’s. And holy mother of God I think I found my favorite dress ever. Really, I probably shouldn’t say that, it’s actually a pretty simple, nice white floral lace dress. But I got it for $50, and it was originally $150. Please don’t applause, it was all Marshall’s.

Please give a warm welcome to my new favorite: Michael Kors floral lace dress.

Dear J. Crew wedges,

I want you so bad. Please drop $100, then I’d gladly give you a nice home in my comfy closet and on my feet. I promise I would love you forever. Amen.

Target, you’ve done it again

I can’t tell you how many items of clothing I’ve gotten from Target over the years. It’s a little bit ridiculous. But my most recent purchase might be one of my favorites. When it comes to cute sandals I can’t say no…especially when they’re at eye level and like $17. So needless to say I got these shoes while completely ignoring the list and budget I’d set for myself before going on my shopping excursion (I swear if I don’t I walk out with the whole freaking store).

What do y’all think? Any other place I can get cute and cheap shoes? These also come in an orange and pink combo, so I’m thinking of getting those too!

Wedding Paper DIYs

Though I’m nowhere close to getting married, I’m pretty much obsessed with all things weddings. Maybe y’all have noticed? I love pouring over the details in the catering, the cake, the decorations, the dress, and pretty much every other little possibility there is in a couple’s nuptials. Unfortunately, no matter how much I like to dream, not everyone can have that $50,000 dream wedding. In browsing through some of my favorite wedding blogs and websites I stumbled upon Wedding Chicks blog, which hosts photos from real weddings as well as wedding ideas for future brides. One thing I’m L-O-V-I-N-G about their site is they have a whole section just for DIY and free downloadable projects! I’m being realistic in my future wedding plans, so knowing that this website has such pretty (and budget-friendly) invites, place cards, and other papers makes me so happy! Check out some of their free templates!

On My Wishlist…

I’ve been reminding myself (and have been reminded) that if I want to study abroad next year, I need to start saving all of my money. For those of you that don’t know me…that’s near impossible for me. It’s equivalent to seersucker going out of style in the south. Under normal circumstances, it would never happen. But Paris is big. Very, very big. So I’ve had to put a giant lock on my bank account, and watch as my wish list gets longer and longer.

So I’m thinking maybe posting my wish list might be therapeutic for me. What’s on y’all’s wish lists? I have a special  folder on my Safari toolbar!

My Kinda Hardware

I’ve had a giant crush on Anthropologie ever since I walked into the store in Charlotte’s South Park mall a few years ago. I can’t afford a lot of the goods they have (it turns out love can’t get you everything), but that won’t stop me from crushing on them. I’ve been thinking lately of how to re-do my the dresser I have in my room that belonged to my great grandmother without completely changing it, in case I decide to get a new one. I’m thinking some new handles would look great on it, so of course Anthropologie was the first place I looked. What do y’all think?
